Maxwell Clemence Kaliati is a development leader with nearly two decades of experience delivering high-impact programs across Malawi. Before joining Yamba Malawi, he led program strategy for organizations including Oxfam, strengthening partnerships and advancing work in governance, gender equality, early childhood development, economic empowerment, and Ultra-Poor Poverty Graduation (UPG).
At Yamba, Maxwell previously served as Director of Programs, bringing deep technical and operational knowledge of our model, and now, as Executive Director, leads programs, operations, and staff to ensure strong delivery, accountability, and sustainable growth.
Maxwell holds a Bachelor of Social Science from Chancellor College, University of Malawi, and is pursuing an MBA in Organizational Leadership.

Melissa Kushner founded Yamba Malawi (formerly Goods for Good) in 2006 to uplift vulnerable children and partner with communities to break the cycle of poverty.
A longtime social-impact leader, Melissa has been recognized with the Global Citizen Award and named to Cool Hunting’s inaugural CH25 list, The Jewish Week’s 36 Under 36, and the Empact100 list. She is an American Express NGen Fellow, was awarded Young Entrepreneur for the World by the World Entrepreneurship Forum, and received both the Torch Award and the Distinguished Young Alumna Award from New York University. Her work has been featured in Forbes, USA Today, and Elle, highlighted on NBC’s Nightly News, and she has presented at the TEDx Atlanta Conference.
Melissa holds a Master’s in Public Administration from New York University and a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Pennsylvania.
